Autumn Edition

What About California Apples?

Our local California apple harvest is well underway. The harvest started on time this year despite a cooler than usual spring. This led way into a hotter than usual summer with a near record number of days over 100°!!! These two extreme growing conditions have put some stress on our early California apples and some crops were slightly damaged. Despite the challenges, we are looking forward to high quality local Gala’s and Granny Smith apples to be in good supply until the Washington apple harvest later this fall. Our California Modi apple harvest took place on August 31st with excellent results for a young orchard. Even with the difficult growing conditions this summer the Modi apples have exceptional pressures and a dark red color unlike any other California apple on the market today. We are looking forward to packing the Modi apples and introducing them in a limited release at local retailers later this fall.
